Not much to say. Have yet to hear back from Engineer or the sprinkler people. We did destroy the wood wall  that ran along the back driveway. Criss  will start  replacing it tomorrow with concrete block, should run about $4,000. Picked up the supplies I needed to run a electrical line down the wall by the horseshoe pit so Dave can wire up the timer for the sprinklers. Will meet with Paul Martin tomorrow to change out the electrical service on the pole in the Gazabo area. Again this week the canteen has been real slow.  The Sheriff for Friday night was Karen, her pick caused a slight scare it was red and it was a Queen but it was a Diamond.  This weeks reward will be $2,000.00 Jokers will now be $75.00 Saturday should be a busy day  Parking lot sale early, complete with a D-jay Horseshoe tournament starting at noon  SAL BBQ and music by Mambo Walley beginning at 1'0clock followed by the NASCAR race at 4:pm. Sunday the Ladies AUX will be cooking breakfast.  Don't forget the 4th we will be having a Rib BBQ and live music starting at 1;00

Well here I am almost on schedule. Have yet to hear back from the engineer will be calling him tomorrow. Went to talk to the fire sprinkler people. They could not believe that they would want to have them in a Gazebo.  Mike ,the owner is going to call the fire Commander to see what he can due to help us out.  If required we are looking in excess of $20,000.00. There went our gazebo. All in all it was a very disappointing week. To start, Jerry Sanchez, acting as sheriff on Friday night, let that Queen get away again. His pick was envelope #57 which held the 2 of clubs. This weeks reward $1,900.00  Saturday's Riders event turned out to be a big disappointment. The sign up for the ride was way down, and to top it off the tables for the casino night did not show so it had to be canceled. The band was pretty good but I don't think they were worth $500.00. We have all new people running the post and its going to take a while for everyone to figure out what they are suppose to be doing. Sunday's NASCAR winners were Monk for $125.00 and 12 points  San Jose [John] 2nd for $75.00 and 10 points  The dollar board winners were Deli Bob and Victor twice for $40.00 ea. I think that's about it for this week. Don't forget the parking lot sale, SAL fund raiser and the horseshoe tournament coming up on Sat. June 28th. Sign up with Ellen for spots in the lot sale Contact any SAL member for the Horseshoe's  Pete has some great looking plaques for the winners.

Well I don't know where I should start other than it's been a very rough week. We have been waiting for some results from the building Dept. Well I got them on my birthday, the worst birthday present ever. For some reason the plans were sent out for review, came back with seven pages of needed changes before a permit can be issued. I took a copy to the engineer, his response was you have to believe you are working with idiots. Went to the building dept. and their response was why did the plan review get outsourced. The engineer is working on a response to be e-mailed to the county. will have to wait and see what happens . I will try to get a appointment with Calcagno's office to see if he can be any help. The week went pretty fast. We had a very nice Thursday, along with Wham- Bam Bingo we had a lunch and free drinks provided by Margit in rememberance of Jim. Friday was the ALR night to cook dinner, did a nice job.   Regina was the sheriff for the night, her attempt to find the Queen failed. Her envelope was # 20, if the Queen had been there she was long gone, this weeks reward will be $1,700.00. Again we had music after the draw.  Saturday the hall was rented for a wedding reception, they did a great job decorating.  Sunday was ALR breakfast then their meeting followed by a pot luck for one of their riders that was leaving. After all that we had installation of the new incoming officers for the Legion, AUX, SAL and the Riders . Hope to hear something on the permit next week.

Before I start I would like everyone to read the poem that Ellen wrote about Jim I will post it at the end of the blog. If you new him it will make you cry.

The county called last Thursday wanting my permission to come and take pictures of the site. I said come on down. They were suppose to expedite the permit, have yet to hear from them. I got the OK from the engineer to use screws in place of sixteen D nails Will make It a lot easier, also got approval for some minor changes to the trusses. WE got the juke box up and running on Friday have yet to receive the replacement CPU in order to fix the sweepstake machine that's down. Lucky Heidi was selected two weeks in a row to play sheriff. Her pick, envelope #6 and again no Queen. This weeks reward will be$1,600.00. After the draw the band "Off the Hook" entertained the troops. Saturday & Sunday were pretty quiet, Race winners were David Clausen $125 .00 and 12 points  2nd place Mike H., the point leader, $75.00 and 10 points The two $1.00 board winners were Jim Davis and {San Jose} John for $40.00 ea. Remember this Sunday will be installation at 2 o'clock.

                                                        EASY TO PLEASE
JIM JIM where do I start

All this sadness I am feeling comes straight from my Heart

I met you & your sidekick at the local bar.

Cowboy Allen had pointed the two of you out from afar.

Along, about three years or more.

Funny, I always felt we had met somewhere before.

You never complained, nor did you ever whine.

You liked talking about where the two of you had just dined.

Every time, I would see you and Margit.

I was always pleased that we had met.

You always showed style, class and you carried yourself well.

Even when my jokes were beyond bad: you never gave me hell.

I was fortunate enough to spend time with both of you.

The adventures were fun: too bad there were so few

There was BINGO, a Sunset Cocktail Party, and a Parking Lot Sale.

Laughs were plenty: & homeward bound, none of us ended up in jail .

When I first started bartending, your patience shined

The Martini's weren't  perfect you would just smile and switch to wine.

The day you fooled Robert & yelled BINGO two different times .

He grabbed your card & raced to the front of Larry's line.

Our table was in stitches, laughing so hard

Low & behold you still needed one more card.

My tears are hitting this paper as I write down this rhyme.

God  why can't we just turn back time

Jim, I hope in Heaven, the Martini's are the way you like them

Save some olives for the rest of us.... We MISS YOU.... Amen
