It looks like I made it thru the week without making anyone mad.

We poured the second part of the foundation on Wednesday using 25 yds. for a total yardage of 46 yds. @ $116.00 per yd. Friday Chris and Victor got the first three courses of the 12 in. block placed as far as where the 8 foot wall starts. Had very bad news on Saturday that Chris was admitted to the emergency ward at the hospital with a life threatening staff infection. He underwent surgery on his leg and is going to be Ok. Will get started back on the wall as soon as possible. Went back to the county building dept. to be told that I have to have a structural engineer look at the plans and the worst case senerio I may have to install fire sprinklers.  So much for the wall.  Ordered the supplies for the upcoming week on Monday and put it away on Tuesday exciting eh!  Wednesday was Karaoke night, what a flop only 5 singers showed up.  If it doesn't get better, will have to discontinue it.  Dave Dolan broke the bank on the sweepstakes machines this week cashing out a cool $705.00.  He shared back by buying the house a drink as well as donating 2 red and 2 blue chips and $20.00 in Queen of Hearts tickets for WHAM-BAM bingo on Thursday.  Speaking of the Queen, on Friday night the envelope selected was #19 and out popped our first gift card of the game.  ,The reward was the camera not the $4,800.00, but better than a poke in the eye.  This Friday nights reward will be $5,100.00.  Joker's are now worth $125.00 and we will be doing a second draw for $100.00.  After the Queen we will be celebrating February birthdays with music provided by "VYBE".  Saturday was nothing to write home about.  Sunday was the return of NASCAR, what a long day.  It was worth the wait for me when my man finally got out of the "finishing second" rut and WON.  Our big winners on the $20.00 dollar board were Furball for $500.00, David Clausen $150.00 for second, $50.00 for third went to Phil, $50.00 to Troy for leading at half way and $50.00 to Mike for finishing 15th.  Warren got the boobe prize of $20.00 for having the first car out of the race.  On the $6.00 board David Clausen scored again with $125.00 and 12 points, Joyce and I came in second for $75.00 and 10 points. Suppose to get some rain this week so do not know the status of the work on the wall.   Will get done when ever?  Woops I forgot the winners on the two $1.00 boards, they were Mickey and Victor.

Well it seems as  though I have succeeded in upsetting some more people with some of the decsions I have made over the last couple of weeks. We have a member that works for a construction company, that was highly perturbed over my choice of concrete suppliers for the project in the back of the main building.  I have hired a contractor to do this job and it was his recommendation to use  the company I chose.  I have also offended some other members with my  incentive program that I started to help increase our membership. The program works like this-recruit a new member and get a $10.00 credit on the sweepstakes machines.  I realize that the bartenders may have somewhat of an advantage because of their contact with the customers.  All members have relatives, friends, neighbors that they can recruit.  We have increased the overall membership by between 15 or 20 members.  I'm not sure that any of these members will choose to be more than a card carrying member, but I hope to get some new people to help keep this post afloat.

Well we have  a good start on the wall.  The first part of the footings have been completed, All of the Rebar installed and 21 yards of concrete placed.  Working on the second part as I speak.  Hope to call for inspection on Thursday and order cement no later than Friday.  Home Depot delivered the block and the rest of the supplies needed to start laying block.  Went to the building dept. today to see what is needed to start the gazebo-once the wall is complete.  Monday and Tuesday was kind of slow at the canteen. Wednesday was a sad day as we attended the funeral services for Jimmy Garcia. A Mass was held on Thursday morning followed by a large motorcycle escort to the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine.  Thursday, as always is a good day at the post with free lunch and Wham-Bam Bingo.  Friday was great day.  The Queen of Hearts draw was envelope #48 containing the 5 of diamonds.  This weeks reward will be $4,800.00. Before the draw we had an awesome prime rib dinner prepared by Doug & Bobbie,  What a job.  After dinner Foolish Pleasure provided the Music. We have started with the NASCAR season with qualifying on Sunday. The points season starts with the Daytona 500 race this Sunday.

Well you might know as soon as we get started on the wall it starts to rain. Ken got the footings dug in short order on Wed. Thursday, Chris started to set forms for the footings and sure as ???? it started to rain. I hope we can get started on Tuesday this week.  I took a set of plans across the street to get a price on the trusses we will need to redo the gazebo but have yet to hear back from them. Friday we did get the permit from the County with no changes. Monday I did make the liquor order for the next two weeks it came late on Tuesday and was put away. We got back on our 1st & 3rd Karaoke schedule on Wed., had a fair amount of singers.  Thursdays Wham- Bam Bingo and free lunch was a hit as always.   Dave Dolan again donated extra beer chips as well as $20.00 worth of Queen of Hearts tickets. Friday's dinner fixed by the the Riders was very good. After dinner we did our search for the Queen. The lucky pick was Jeff, his pick was envelope #29.  It was a close one, it was a red card it-was a Queen, but the wrong one.  It was the Queen of Diamonds. Next weeks reward will be $4,500.00.  Saturday was slow but again Dave Dolan came to the rescue Saturday night when he came and set up his stereo and partied on down celebrating his birthday.  Happy Birthday Dave.  Sunday was the Riders day to do breakfast.  I understand some of the Riders were upset because I asked them to hold their meeting at the senior center. This was my call and I will call it For the Good of the Legion.  The Jam session that took place in the hall all afternoon netted a cool $1,800.00 for the Post.  It was a great afternoon of country music and everyone had a great time. Hope to have lots to report next week on the progress of our wall.   Till then, stay dry.

Another week has gone by. Not a lot to report. First part of the week was pretty slow. As always we had a good turn out for lunch and Wham-Bam Bingo. Dave Dolan again came thru with extra chips and 20 dollars worth of Queen tickets.  Friday Associated Re-Bar delivered our order of R-bar for the wall.  I would like to thank them for their donation of $250.00 dollars off of the bill.  Dave Clausen was the Sheriff for Friday nights hunt for the Queen.  His pick was envelope #31, exposing the little brother, the Jack of Hearts. Close but no cigar. Not a whole lot going on Saturday. SAL had a great Breakfast on Sunday followed by their monthly meeting. The Super Bowl was a dud. A very low turnout for a very disappointing game. It looks like we will get started on the footings tomorrow. The backhoe arrived this afternoon and PG&E confirmed that there are no utilities where we need to dig. We have a Jam session on Sunday that is a memorial for a local long time musician. Come out and pay your respect and enjoy the  music. We have a great night planned for Valentine Day, starting with a Prime Rib Dinner for only $12.00 dollars, we will have chicken for those that don't eat meat. At 7:00 we will do our Queen Draw followed by music provided by "Foolish Pleasure".  I guess that's all for now
