Ken also had a meeting with Chris on the placement of the footings. Hope to get started the first of next week. SAL will be fixing their great Hamburgers for Friday nights dinner. Hope to see you there.
Trying to get back on my weekly schedule of posting my blog the first part of the week. Being that Monday was a holiday, I didn't get to make any of our orders. Wednesday was our regularly scheduled Karaoke night. Again, not much of a turnout. Thursday Victor fixed a great lunch. I want to thank him for his dedication to the Post. We had another great turn out for Wham-Bam Bingo. Dave Dolan made the day with his donations of 4 Blue Chips, 2 Red Chips and $20.00 worth of Queen of Hearts tickets. By the way, the Queen will be worth $4,000.00 Friday the 31st. Neil was the Sheriff for the hunt for the Queen on the 24th. His guess revealed the 4 of Spades, no money, but he did get $20.00 worth of tickets for this next weeks draw. Saturday's Birthday Bash was a "Bust" if we don't start getting a better turnout we may just discontinue them. Sunday's AUX breakfast was great thanks to Karen, Joyce, Randi and the rest of the girls. Monday was a big day. Bob & Detter started taking down the old retaining wall. The boards were a snap but the poles were a different story. Some of the poles were down at least 4 feet. Thank God for Bob's tractor. Once the boards and poles were cleaned up Charlie brought in his truck and they started removing the bank back so that the footings could be dug. A very productive day. Tuesday they finished removing the dirt and hauled all of the scrap to the dump. Later, "Chris" the contractor, came in and made some cuts in the existing concrete to make room for the footings on the south end of the project. Ken also had a meeting with Chris on the placement of the footings. Hope to get started the first of next week. SAL will be fixing their great Hamburgers for Friday nights dinner. Hope to see you there.

Well here I'm again playing catch up. It has been a very productive week or so. We did get our permit into the system Plans went through the planning and building departments with no problems The engineer filled out the form to by-pass the soils report, which will save us a lot of fee's ,if approved. Ordered the block from Home Depot and still have a little over $500.00 left on our grant. Tuesday Bob moved in his tractor and stripped the sod from the proposed work site, so it will not contaminate any back fill in the footings. The tractor made short order of the Demo on the Gazebo. Thanks to Detter, Abel, Dave and Joyce the whole thing was dropped and cleaned up in a couple of hours. Have talked to Chris ,the contractor, and he says we can go ahead and remove the old wall and dig the footings . Will not need the permit until we need to call for the inspection of the R-Bar. Hope to get started right away on the project.
The week other wise was pretty slow. Lunch was a great success as well as Wham-bam Bingo. Friday's Queen of Hearts draw went to Ray Ash , his attempt to capture the Queen was envelope # 17 revealing the 5 of Spades He did receive 20 dollars worth of tickets for this coming weeks draw. If you were a 49er fan your day on Sunday sucked. We did have hot dogs and nacho's to help sooth your loss. I want to acknowledge a couple of true FRIENDS. We had two of our members, Jim and Robert who traveled to Arizona to support a fellow member in a time of need. Again I want to thank Bob and everyone else that helped in the demo of the gazebo. We will be needing more help in the near future ,as we continue work on the project.. All you members with birthdays in January come on out on Sat and bring your friends, and party to the music of "Southern Thunder". Hope to see you there. I'm going to try and catch up on my Blog. It's 9:00 pm and Joyce and I are just getting home. It's been a very busy last few days. It seems that the last post upset some members. It was not meant for anyone personally, but I guess if the shoe fits-you will have to wear it. I finally received the engineers report in order to get started on the new wall. I have contacted several contractors to look at the plans and summit a bid. I have received a price back on the R-Bar, materials only, about $1,800. Wednesday I have got to contact the Engineer to have a form filled out in order to maybe get a waiver on the Soils Report. Next is another trip to the planning Dept. I was there 2 hours on Tuesday. If everything is in order, they will start the permit process. Later in the afternoon will require another trip to Gilroy. Home Depot to place an order for the block. Ken is putting together a price on digging the footings, should have it back Wed. about noon. So much for that, lets catch up on the happenings at the Post. Monday was order day, didn't need much, has been really slow. Tuesday Flat. Wednesday was Karaoke, not much of a turnout for that either. Thursday was the highlight of the week so far, had about 30 people enjoying lunch and playing Wham-Bam Bingo. Dave Dolan again came up with some additional prizes, 2 red chips, 2 blue chips and 10 Queen of Hearts tickets ea. for the Men & Women only games. Friday night the ALR prepared a great dinner. The sheriff for Friday's hunt for the Queen was Heidi. Her guess was envelope # 17 uncovering the 8 clubs. This weeks reward will be $3,600.00. Saturday night we had a Band, the turn out sucked, barely made enough to pay them. The 49er's have made the past couple of weekends fun. This weekend maybe a different story GO 49er's.
I want to start this blog with a very positive writing done by Ellen titled Volunteers $ Bartenders
