$10,000.00 *  $10,000.00 *  $10,000.00  *  $10,000.00 *  $10,000.00 *    The above is the news of the week.  The word is out and I  think this Friday night is going to be a mad house  LOVE IT.  The rest of the week has actually been pretty slow.  Monday and Tuesday not much to report.  On Tuesday I did receive our Grant from Home Depot, a gift card for $3,000.00 to be used for materials.  Wednesday a lot of fun with Karaoke.  Thursday playing Wham-bam Bingo, Dave Dolan again donated 20 Queen of Hearts tickets to be used for prizes.
We still have free Pool on Thursday's.  Now we get to the meat of the week. Our lucky person  selected to attempt to capture the Queen was DC, kind of stumped me for a second but, was one of our most dedicated members David Clausen.  His envelope, very appropriate for Halloween, was #13.  The ugly step sister, the Queen of Spades, made her presence known.  So, no winner. This weeks reward $10,000.00, Jokers $400.00.  The second draw for $100.00 went to Ray Ash.  Marc had the place rocking for the rest of the night.  Saturday was the Ladies Aux. day to shine putting on a great Halloween Party for the Kids.  Again, Ellen entertained the kids with her family, a Horse, Radar her dog, two goats and Oprah her little piggy. Saturday night was a shame.  The band was great but the Birthday party was a bust.  I guess there was to much going on elsewhere.  Sunday a great. Breakfast was  provided by the Lady's Aux.  NASCAR winners for the week were Larry & Joyce for $125.00 and 12 points.  Jim & Margit second for $75.00 and 10 points. They also had a second car in the top ten.  The $40.00 dollar winner was Wayne.  The lead for the end of the year pool did not change.  Sunday afternoon the girls had a Pool Tournament.  Japanna was the winner.  I almost forgot this weeks qualifiers for the Karaoke 321 contest were "Tay" Riando from Salinas,  Jade Gent from Prunedale,  Marsay Sheldon from Marina.  Final round this Wednesday.  Remember this Saturday, November 2, is the Early Bird Dinner followed by a live Band.

Well it is Monday and I have yet to meet with the Engineer, will be calling him again today. I did receive the  final approval from Home Depot.  I have one more piece of paper to file agreeing to the terms of the grant then they will send me a gift card for $3,000.00 to be used for materials.  Placed orders on Monday and I guess I failed to order enough Crown Royal because we ran out on Friday.  Thanks to Debbie from Post 31 for coming to the rescue.  Tuesday was a-no happening day.  Wednesday was our 2nd round of our Karaoke 321 Contest. The singers picked to go on to the finals on November 2nd were  Sara Boles from Prunedale, "Sherry Miller" from San Jose and Jerry La Londe also from San Jose.  Don't forget to come out this Wednesday and cheer on your favorite singer.  Thursday was free lunch and Wham Bam Bingo.  Dave Dolan came thru again and donated 20 Queen of Hearts tickets.  We did two black out games with the tickets, one for ladies only and the other for just the men players.  We still have free Pool all day on Thursday.  Next comes Friday and the hunt for the Queen. We are getting a great turnout which reflects on the kitchen and makes for a great canteen night.  The reward for the Queen was $7,900.00. The lucky bounty hunter for the draw was Ashley.  Her selection was envelope #14 which revealed the 3 of Hearts and again the Queen escaped.  On our second draw Dennis walked away with $50.00.  This weeks reward will be $8,800.00.   Jokers are now worth $350.00.   If no one captures the Queen this week, we will be doing a second draw worth $100.00, you must be present to win.  After the draw we had a great time enjoying the music of the "Buffalo Canyon Band."  This week Marc will be spinning Country Music.  Nothing much was happening on Saturday.  Sunday was our NASCAR pool day.  Had lots of money to pay out.  The  big winner on the $20.00 pool was Dennis for $500.00.  Second place paid $150.00 and went to Jeannie, 3rd place and $50.00 was given to Abel.  Lou scored $100.00 for having the car that was leading at half way and also the car that finished 15th.  Richard Silvera got his $20.00 back for having the car that finished last.  On the $6.00 pool Jeannie won $125.00 and 12 points, she also got points on a second car to extent her point lead.  Joyce and I finished 2nd for $75.00 and 10 points.  The dollar pool winners were Bell & Larry, Monk and I forgot the 3rd one but they all received their $40.00.
I don't have a lot of information but Dan Clay was taken to the Hospital on Sunday with heart problems .

Well it has been a pretty slow start to the week.  I did meet with the surveyors who will be doing the site plan for the engineering of the new retaining wall.  I hope to meet with Ben, who will be preparing the necessary drawings needed to present to the county for the permit.  Still having a little problem in supplying the paperwork that Home Depot wants in order to finish up our grant.  Hope to resolve it this coming week.  Wed. was our first round of the 321 Karaoke contest.  The first 3 singers picked to go to the finals on November 6th are Richard Puccinelli, Hollister, Jessie Day, Prunedale, Brian Andrus, Pacific Grove.  Come out Wed. and enjoy the second round.  Thursday's, along with free lunch, Wham Bam Bingo, we are now having free Pool all day.  Fridays are the highlight of the week.  The hunt for the Queen has created quite a frenzy.  The parking lot as well as the hall was full.  This weeks reward was $7,200.00 and the lucky pick went to Dale and Heidi.  Unfortunately, they were not present.  They were attending Heidi's graduation from college where she received her Medical Assistant Diploma.  The envelope that they had selected was #14 and contained a gift card, but no money.  The reward goes to $7,900.00 for this week.  Marc and his Country Night was a great success with a lot of dancers and a great night for Dina and the canteen.  This week after the draw we will be having a band called "Buffalo Canyon" playing Honkey Tonk Country.  Ellen again worked her butt off and did a great job with the parking lot sale on Saturday.  Sunday was ALR's monthly meeting.  I forgot that the NASCAR race was also held on Saturday night.  The winner for $125.oo and 12 points was Troy.  Second went to San Jose John for 10 points and took over the points lead from Jeannie by 1 point. Mike H. won the $40.00 dollar pool.  Again, I want to thank Victor and Ellen for stepping up and volunteering their time in order to keep this place running.  We could use more support from other members in order to take the load off the few that do care about the Post and volunteer their time.

Well its Monday  again. Had to place the orders for liquor this week. Youngs Market line is getting slower every week. Other than my people coming in to get their NASCAR picks, it was pretty slow. Tuesday was slow as well . Wednesday night with no Karaoke, I think they only served 5 dinners. Thursday, as always, was busy all day with free lunch and Wham Bam Bingo. Dave Dolan donated 2 red and 2 blue chips as well as 10 Queen of Hearts tickets for Friday. Jackie gave back a  red chip that she had won last week. I kicked in another 5 Queen of Hearts tickets so we had a lot of Bingo prizes. Thursday night was monthly meeting night. It is pretty sorry when you only have one member other than the board that showed up. Will post the minutes at the end of the blog.  Friday was a blast. We must of had at least 125 people present for the Queen draw. Duayne Plummer was the lucky person to try and collect the reward of $6,500.00. His choice of envelopes was #53 holding the 5 of diamonds. During the week we sold $1,450 dollars of tickets allowing us to raise the reward to $7,200.00 for Friday Oct.11th.  After the draw for the Queen,  Marc will be hosting Country Night. Saturday night we had a great band "Triple Creek".   I don't understand the lousy turnout. Everyone wants the Post to hire entertainment then no one shows up to justify the expense.  Sundays  breakfast went pretty good. The NASCAR race was very exciting with a lot of cautions.  At the end, Mary cleaned house by winning both first and second place for a total of $200.00 dollars and 22 points.  Jeff and Abel each won $40.00 dollars on the $1.00 board. Jeannie still holds a 5 point lead in the overall point race.  Don't forget Ellen and the Ladies Aux. are having their parking lot sale on Sat. October 12th.  d Come and check it out and have a Breakfast Burrito.  I did write a check for $500.00 on Thursday to Monterey Bay Engineering so that they can get started on preparing the necessary paper work for the permits required for our retaining wall.  We paid out over $1,700.00 this week on the sweepstakes machines.  If you haven't tried them , do it, you may get lucky and have some fun.
