Larry's  Update

Well Monday was a holiday and I guess  everyone slept in because I didn't have a customer until eleven o'clock.  Things finally picked up and I had a fairly good shift.
Tuesday I came in and placed our liquor orders with the suppliers to be delivered on Wednesday, not much else happened.  Wednesday I put up the orders that came in. Wed. night was the last chance to qualify for our Karaoke sing off for March 8th. Wednesday nights dinner of Chicken Pot Pie or Pulled Pork Sandwich was a killer. They sold all 30 pies and another 14 sandwiches for a total of 44 meals. Ellen and John need a pat on the back for a job well done.  Thursday was pretty hectic.  It started with the NASCAR duels on TV followed by a great lunch. During lunch I got a call from Joyce and  she was stranded on the Sunol Grade. Dina stepped up and ran the Wham Bam Bingo so I could go rescue a damsel in distress . Friday's night Queen of Hearts revealed the 5 of Clubs.  Next weeks reward will be $1,000.00. Joker's worth $50.00. Saturdays pool tournament against Post 31 was a lot of fun, even though we lost the trophy by one game. We will get them next time.   Sunday was the day a lot of us have been waiting for THE Daytona 500 Hundred. The race was great. We had several winners in our pools.
David was the big winner on the $20.00 dollar pool, raking in $500.00. Second place, as well as leader at half way and last place went to Dennis for a total of $220.00 Third place went to Sheldon for $50.00  Johnny Jew finished out the pool with $50.00 for 15th place. The $ 6.00 board winner went to John [from San Jose] for $125.00 and 12 points. Wayne picked up where he left off last year with a 2nd place win for $75.00 and 10 points also, he had a second car that finished in the top ten for 5 points.  So the points leader going into Phonix will be Wayne with the 15 points.  Joyce and I won the $1.00 board for $40.00. Overall, I think we had a very good Sunday. I forgot that the ladies had a great turn out for breakfast.  Remember to hug your loved ones, you never know when you won't be able to.

Larry's Update

Here we go again it's Monday.Same old routine but with a heavy heart. Will be leaving to go back to Dixon to make funeral arrangements for my stepdaughter. So the blog for the week will be based on hearsay. Tuesday not much reported. Wed dinner by the Taco Girl's sold out early.     Thursday Dina played me and did the Wham Bam Bingo. I have been told that she did a great job and everyone had fun. Thursday I don't know what happened.  Friday night the Kitchen sold 49 dinner's in 45 minutes.  The Queen of Hearts draw went to Larry and his pick was envelope 19 and it turned up the 6 of Hearts. Next weeks reward will be $800.00. Friday nights birthday celebration ended up in a "squabble" which ended the party early.  The rest of the week was pretty mellow.  On Tuesday, while in Dixon I visited the American Legion Post, that was the first post to participate in the remote caller bingo program. I will be going to Santa Maria to the Dept Executive Meeting on March 8th to set on a committee to try and expand the program so we can participate. This will be a huge money maker for the Post.
Just one more thing I would like to say, " Hug your Loved ones because you never know when you might lose them".

Well it's Monday again, time sure flys when your having fun.  Routine day, first clean and straighten up the the hall area, then run the vacuum in the lounge, try to remember to turn on the open sign  in the front window. It seems that it doesn't happen very often.  This week is order week, didn't need a lot, been kind of slow. Tuesday, another routine day .Did not need anything from Costco's so didn't go, put away the bar inventory when it came in, that was the excitement for the day. Wednesday started with a call from the Dixon CA police Dept. saying that they were transporting Jeri, my step daughter,Joyce's youngest daughter to the Hospital with no vital sign's. Needless to say we were on the road in ten minutes, headed to Sac. About the time we got to Fairfield
we received a call that she did not make it.  She was only 35 years old, leaving a husband, a 19 year old daughter, and the saddest of all a 17 month baby. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to receive the results from the coroner's office to know the cause of death. As of this post the coroner has yet to release the body,so all burial plans are in limbo. Seeing that I was not here on Wed. I can't give much of a report on the Karaoke. Jay did say the dinner went well and the canteen had a fair night.  I do have a copy of the E-Board and  the Membership Meeting that I will Post

The meeting was adjourned at 8:14 pm.
Friday night's dinner prepared by A.L.R. was great  The drawing for the Queen of Hearts went to Ray Ash, his pick was envelope 17, exposing the 4 of Clubs. Next weeks reward $700.00.  Saturday the girls did a great job decorating the hall for the dance. I think the the ticket count  for dinner was 83.  Their is no way you could ever get a meal like that at any resturant and get to enjoy The Money Band as well for $20.00   The canteen had a great night. Annanable, from the American Legion in Seaside, won over $350.00 dollars on the Sweepstakes machines.  Sunday morning breakfast really hit the spot..  The Riders did the cooking and had their meeting after. Not looking forward to next week . Everyone say a prayer for Jeri's family

Blue Monday,Blue Monday the day started out very cool, not only the weather, but I didn't have a paying customer until 11;00 . Once everyone got thawed out, things picked up. The highlight of the day occurred  when Michelle bought ten pull tabs, then Koni purchased five.  Sweed bought just one ticket after the girls got theirs. Immediately after his purchase he tried to sell his ticket for $2.00 that's $1.00 more than he payed for it. Nobody took him up on his offer. When he pulled his tabs the ticket was worth $250.00. Some times when you snooze you loose. Later in the evening Michelle and Mario hit another $250.00 Pull Tab. On Tuesday, thanks to frugal John from the kitchen,we had a great pot of soup made from leftovers. A great way to share with the members instead of trash canning them.  Wednesday's Taco's were great, it's a shame more people didn't come out to enjoy them. I was there until midnight doing the end of the month inventory.  By the numbers, I can confirm, it has been slow.  Thursday is free lunch, prepared by Victor and Ellen, as usual a great job.  Doug and Bobbie were the big winners in our Wham Bam Bingo game with three "jackpots". Being that there is not a lot to blog about I need some help. Is there anyone out there, or know someone that is a architectural sketch artist.  I need to get my ideas for the Gazebo out of my head an onto paper. Hopefully I can get someone to volunteer their services, if not maybe I can figure a way to compensate them. They can contact me at the Post or call me on my cell  206-7864.  Friday's hamburgers were a great. The Queen draw was worth an additional $100.00 to $600.00  The envelope selected was number 50, revealing the Queen of Clubs. Saturday was flat.  Sunday was a fun day, not all 49er fans would probably agree with that. The food prepared for everyone was great. We raised over a hundred dollar with our lamp raffle that went to help pay for it.  Till next week, same time same place, be Happy .
