The week other wise was pretty slow. Lunch was a great success as well as Wham-bam Bingo. Friday's Queen of Hearts draw went to Ray Ash , his attempt to capture the Queen was envelope # 17 revealing the 5 of Spades He did receive 20 dollars worth of tickets for this coming weeks draw. If you were a 49er fan your day on Sunday sucked. We did have hot dogs and nacho's to help sooth your loss. I want to acknowledge a couple of true FRIENDS. We had two of our members, Jim and Robert who traveled to Arizona to support a fellow member in a time of need. Again I want to thank Bob and everyone else that helped in the demo of the gazebo. We will be needing more help in the near future ,as we continue work on the project.. All you members with birthdays in January come on out on Sat and bring your friends, and party to the music of "Southern Thunder". Hope to see you there.
Well here I'm again playing catch up. It has been a very productive week or so. We did get our permit into the system Plans went through the planning and building departments with no problems The engineer filled out the form to by-pass the soils report, which will save us a lot of fee's ,if approved. Ordered the block from Home Depot and still have a little over $500.00 left on our grant. Tuesday Bob moved in his tractor and stripped the sod from the proposed work site, so it will not contaminate any back fill in the footings. The tractor made short order of the Demo on the Gazebo. Thanks to Detter, Abel, Dave and Joyce the whole thing was dropped and cleaned up in a couple of hours. Have talked to Chris ,the contractor, and he says we can go ahead and remove the old wall and dig the footings . Will not need the permit until we need to call for the inspection of the R-Bar. Hope to get started right away on the project.

I'm going to try and catch up on my Blog. It's 9:00 pm and Joyce and I are just getting home. It's been a very busy last few days. It seems that the last post upset some members. It was not meant for anyone personally, but I guess if the shoe fits-you will have to wear it. I finally received the engineers report in order to get started on the new wall. I have contacted several contractors to look at the plans and summit a bid. I have received a price back on the R-Bar, materials only, about $1,800. Wednesday I have got to contact the Engineer to have a form filled out in order to maybe get a waiver on the Soils Report. Next is another trip to the planning Dept. I was there 2 hours on Tuesday. If everything is in order, they will start the permit process. Later in the afternoon will require another trip to Gilroy. Home Depot to place an order for the block. Ken is putting together a price on digging the footings, should have it back Wed. about noon. So much for that, lets catch up on the happenings at the Post. Monday was order day, didn't need much, has been really slow. Tuesday Flat. Wednesday was Karaoke, not much of a turnout for that either. Thursday was the highlight of the week so far, had about 30 people enjoying lunch and playing Wham-Bam Bingo. Dave Dolan again came up with some additional prizes, 2 red chips, 2 blue chips and 10 Queen of Hearts tickets ea. for the Men & Women only games. Friday night the ALR prepared a great dinner. The sheriff for Friday's hunt for the Queen was Heidi. Her guess was envelope # 17 uncovering the 8 clubs. This weeks reward will be $3,600.00. Saturday night we had a Band, the turn out sucked, barely made enough to pay them. The 49er's have made the past couple of weekends fun. This weekend maybe a different story GO 49er's.
I want to start this blog with a very positive writing done by Ellen titled Volunteers $ Bartenders
Well I'm setting here waiting on Santa so I guess I will catch up on my Blog. Monday was one of those days with not much happening. Made another call to the engineer, he promised something by Friday, but nothing happened. Got some of the paper work caught up for the community service program. Started a new game called "Bar Bingo", it is a lot of fun and you can win up to $100.00. All proceeds go to our donation fund. Tuesday we did shopping for Wed. night and Friday nights dinners as well as Sunday's breakfast. Started salvaging the 2x12 Redwood boards around the back of the gazebo. Wednesday we had our karaoke. Muffy has been down with heart problems so Rebel did it by herself. Hope Mufey gets well soon. Thursday was Ham Hocks and Beans for lunch and our Wham- Bam Bingo game. Again, Dave Dolan came through with additional chips as well as a gift card from Kohls for the ladies and a Home Depot card for the guys. Thanks again to David. Friday's attempt to capture the Queen was unsuccessful. The 3 of Hearts showed up so Friday the reward will go up to $3,000.00. The Jokers still at $50.00. Saturday Joyce and I went to Sacramento for Christmas with the kids. Came back on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon we had the hall rented for a baptism. A very nice afternoon. Christmas dinner will be served starting at 1 o'clock.
Well we are back and trying to get in the swing of things. Got home on the tenth and had a big surprise. Some time while we were gone, I had a water pipe break. Water spraying all over the place, good thing it was outside. Will know how long it was broken when I get my water bill. Wednesday we had to do shopping, nothing got done while we were gone. Made several phone calls to the Engineer, the game people. the sheriff and I forgot who else. Thursday we had a great lunch fixed by Victor then had great afternoon playing Wham-Bam Bingo. Dan won three times. Friday was Queen of Hearts night, my good friend "Deli Bob" and his wife did a great job running the game while we were gone. The Sheriff for the night was Frank , he made a statement to Wyatt before he drew the ticket that if he drew his ticket he would give him $20.00 he had to pay up. The envelope he selected was #45 and contained the Ace of Clubs . No Queen so no reward. This weeks reward will be $2,900.00 would be a great Christmas present for someone. Saturday was the Children's Christmas party hosted by the Ladies Aux. The kid's had a great time. Santa passed out a lot of nice gifts and everyone enjoyed the snacks. We had two Community workers this weekend so got caught up on some of work outside. This coming week should be pretty busy. Don't forget we will be serving Christmas Dinner starting at 1:00pm on Wednesday. We could still use some donations. We have plenty of Turkey & Ham but need desserts. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas. We have New Years tickets on sale behind the Bar $25.00 ea.
Larry I don't know if anyone has been looking for a current posting on my blog. I will try to do a short update, Joyce and I got most of the shopping done for the Thanksgiving Dinner done before we left Thanks to Ellen for getting the fresh rolls and other last minute things. As always Doug and Bobby did a great job on preparing the dinner. Also I would like to thank all the people who donated to help make the dinner a success. Friday nights Queen of Hearts was ran by Deli Bob and I have been told he did a great job. The lucky Sheriff for the night was Dan Clay and his choice of envelopes reveled the 6 of spades "no Winner" this weeks reward will be $2.500.00. Bob Witherly and Mike Burnes did the inventory on Saturday. I guess the Caopitol Sweeptakes people deceided we were not making them enough money so they came and removed their machines. When I get back I will try to get two more machines like the one's we have. A reminder that the Riders will be having their Christmas Party this Sat. Night the 8th. Also the monthly meeting will be held on Thursday. We are having a great time, just watched the launch of a communication Satalite from the Cape. which is only a couple miles away. Keep it together and we will be home next Tuesday.Well it's that time again. Mondays are usually really slow. This week was no different. Everyone did come in and get their spots for the last week of NASCAR. Tuesday, Joyce and I got the shopping done for the week, also got all the supplies put away. Wednesday was Karaoke Night, not too bad for a night that was not part of a contest. Thursdays are free lunch and Wham-Bam Bingo, again Dave Dolan donated $20.00 worth of Queen of Hearts tickets as a prize . Thursdays are also free pool nights. Friday nights dinner was outstanding, thank you Victor. The rumor that the twin sister of the Queen is terrorizing the cabinet is true. We had over 400 attempts to try to capture her with no success allowing the reward to increase to $2,200.00. Saturday was a fund raising event sponsored by SAL. It was a great Day. They had 39 Tri-Tips and were all sold. There was also several raffles and silent auctions with all proceeds going to the fund raiser. Sunday was the final NASCAR race of the year. We all now go into withdrawal until Feb. To make the day a little easier we gave away a lot of money. Jeannie was the big winner $1,000.00 for the points Champ. Second place went to {San Jose] John for $300.00. 3rd place went to Joyce & I for $150.00, and Mary $50.00 for 4th. Monk was the big winner on the $20 board for $500.00. Second place went to Dennis for $150.00 plus $50.00 for leading at half way. Pinky $50.00 for 3rd. Jeff scored $50.00 for finishing 15th. David Clausen $125.00 and Lou $75.00 on the $6.00 dollar game. The two $1.00 board were won by Mike H & [San Jose] John
